I was inspired to write this book with the goal in my heart to be able to encourage other Christians to learn to tithe faithfully and cheerfully to God, who graciously gave His Son to die in our place. He gave His best to us. We should also give the best we can for His kingdom on earth. Tithing and giving are subjects that are very close to my heart. My mother taught me to tithe at a very young age; in fact, even before I knew how to go to the store to buy something with my money. I thought the only use for money was for tithes and offerings-nothing else! That is because that's all she taught me about with the money she gave. In fact, the very first time she gave me a one peso coin, these were her words, "Here's one peso for you, but ten centavos of this belongs to God. You can't spend it, or you will be under a curse. God will not be happy about it." I got confused. So, I told her, "If ten cents of this belongs to God, then why are you giving it all to me?" She said, to train me to give my tithes and offerings willingly, honestly, and promptly on my own. Since then, I started tithing out of my Sunday school allowance, school allowance, birthday gifts, from my wages from household chores, scholarship money, awards, and anything else.

The very first time I got a job, I realy felt I was tithing. It was different to tithe out of money that was given to you freely as a gift or award. The very first time I thithed from my first job, I started counting how many hours it took me to earn it. Then, I really realized, I am giving God something -- a part of my self. It was a real sacrifice.
